Baldrick
I don't load my own, but use 55gr ballistic tips in my .243 Tikka Varmint to pretty good effect.

tulkyuk
I used to use 55grn in my Sako 75 - no worries what so ever and smash young foxes to bits, they are a nice 'hot' round for varmints too!!
rabbithunter
What sort of fps does a 243 push 55g out at ?
bob300w
3,800 fps up to around 4,000 fps. http://www.gunsandammomag.com/reloads/243_varmint_0513/

bob300w
For accuracy, I would keep them to the recommended length, the bigger the gap that the bullet has to jump, the less accurate it is likely to be.
Rem223
Fister I don't think the coating is moly. As far as I am aware it is a metal oxide (lubalox). A friend of mine has a .243 and we loaded up some 55gr CT bullets. Accuracy was fine in a Sako 75. They are very flat shooting, but he prefers the 70gr Nosler.
