well i have about 3500 acres of farm land i can shoot on aswell countless thousands of acres of crown land where shooting and hunting is open to every one, reading some of your posts about pigeon hunting and recipies etc, i asked around here and yes infact we can shoot them anytime of year but nobody realy does and when i asked about eating them every one i asked almolst gaged and say they are dirty animals and that nobody around here eats them, i would imagine the pigeons in the UK must be a differn't type and a little cleaner?

i am wondering if i should take the plunge and try it out

jcbruno,

The pigeons we generally talk about here are known as wood pigeons and are goot eating. We also have many town / city dwelling pigeons which few people would eat as they carry disease. I don't think I'd even handle them without wearing gloves.

We also have feral pigeons which live in the countryside. These get shot along with the woodies and some people eat them although I've never managed to bring myself to do this. There's no reason why they wouldn't be "clean" though.
