johnjohn
We are getting our first springer spaniel on monday and the owner has him on pedagree biscuits and winalot but a lady at pets at home said that we should wean him of pedagree as it has cereal and this gives the dog dry skin any suggestion on what to feed him he is only about 10 weeks old. tinytim38
Hi, I feed my springer on Countrywides own brand, of complete working dog rings £11.99 a sack, he loves it and is in great condition.
MC
I feed mine on Dr John's Silver Medal and it is £7.99 for 15kg. Although price isn't a factor he just likes it and it is readily available near me. I gave him some Bakers recently and he was like a kid on E numbers. WGD
HUGE subject. I started mine on Chudleys Junior but she was really ribby so I've changed recently to Arden Grange Puppy/Junior with a top up meal of either raw green tripe (buy frozen from Pets at Home) or raw minced offal (from my local butcher) and she is now crapping less and putting on weight. Are you going to work him/her? Chudleys, Skinners and the like have different mixes for different work rates. You can get James Wellbeloved in Pets at Home which is expensive but dogs seem to do well on it. It is a minefield really and depends on what is readily available to you and what you can afford, although IMO if price is a limiting factor in your dogs diet you shouldn't have a dog, as I say, just my opinion. I would agree that you want to get the dog off Pedigree & Winalot, it's just retail junk. I'm giving serious consideration to feeding ours raw, all readily available frozen from Pets at Home or from various places online depending on your location. Good luck. chippy18
Both mine on Burns. They love it. Got to agree with what was said about Bakers too. Its rubbish like feeding kids a ton of Skittles. Cheers
