Floater decoy

Guys,

Assuming that you are using a standard horseshoe decoy pattern, where should a floater be used to best effect?

If the wind is from right to left with the open end of the pattern on the right hand side, I’ve been placing the floater on the open end furthest away from the hide. Is this right?

Cheers,

The Scotsman.

:( Just read your first post again and if the wind is blowing from right to left then the open end should be on the left.

I put the floater anything from 10 to 20 yards to the rear of the pattern. The shorter distance if the hedge is near the left side.

Like all decoy patterns there is no set rule, as what works one day won't necessarily work the next.
