webber
I could easily obtain used cooking oil for free from several of our customers. Although the majority of our fleet runs on autogas; we do have two 7.1/2 tonners that gobble diesel. I am interested in obtaining the necessary kit to chemically treat used chip oil into biodiesel. Yes LB; I do intend to do the job right and pay the 27.1 pence per litre duty. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience of this, other than a basic filter and tip it in the tank system? webber

webber
Cheers LB, any info at the moment is appreciated. So far the bones that I have gleaned are that you collect the oil from the chippy. When youve got enough you dose it with chemicals to separate the glyserol, which aparently you can use as soap, I wonder how it compares to swarfega? After several hours you can syphon off the fuel. Its best mixed with some "real Stuff" to take advantage of the additives etc. Its also recommended to fit a pre-heated filter to help with viscosity. This little project gets more interesting, yet more complicated with every turn. webber
webber
jonno Thanks for the offer of the filter material. Ive not yet decided on the plant design, but given that the oil has been in contact with food it will need filtering. cheers webber
lurcherboy
Webber, Sorry I have drawn a blank on the kraut site that I visited before the big MSN update earlier this year. Now, if you were to go for a red diesel filtering system, I could sort you right out LB
