Jonno243
Could anyone advise options for fitting a Harris bipod to a bog-standard Ruger 77/22 All Weather, the one with the synthetic stock? I have no problem drilling into it and fitting a QD stud, but wondered if there are any other options; and if so what the pro's and con's of each method are? Any advice will be gratefully received. sapper063
synthetic stock i use a claw bipod on mine from www.uttings.com £21 no need to drill and you can swop it to different rifles so easy and light hope this helps
casts_by_fly
don't you already have a swivel sling stud on the end? That's the easiest way. If not, I'd be drilling and fitting one anyway just to put a sling on. thanks, rick
Jonno243
No QD stud at the front for now Rick, it has the Ruger flappy hinge sling attachment thing. I do fancy studding it and fitting a Harris, just thought I would investigate options and the relative pro's / con's first. Anything I should know about inserting a stud to a synthetic stock? (other than making sure it is synthetic stud, rather than a wood stock one!!!) :look:
casts_by_fly
sorry, I missed the part about being a bone stock 10/22 (meaning barrel band and all). I haven't drilled one on a synthetic. I'd think you'd want a screw base that you'd mount in first that is permanent. The synthetics won't hold much of a screw very well. thanks rick
marky123
Hi Jonno My 77/22 has a stud with a machine thread on t'other side with a very small nut But the stock has the stiffness of a piece of lettuce.I might try experimenting with inserting an aluminium rod through it and epoxying it in,then I could leave an inch sticking out the front, and use that as a bipod spigot. Jonno243
If you do choose to go down that route Marky then let me know how you get on. I won't be doing anything to mine anytime soon as I am out of the country until some time early October. The other option I am thinking about is binning the *** "lettuce-leaf" stock and fitting a sexy laminate custom thumbhole job, found a place in the States that does some 95% inletted for action of your choice. It just so happens that I also know a man that is very very good at stocks..............
