Townie
Sorry to ask a dim question, but my air rifle days ended many years ago when I got rid of my BSA and concentrated on shotguns. I've been asked to get hold of a rifle (and telescopic sight if possible) to deal with magpies and squirrels up to 30 yards. It's for someone who know how to shoot but isn't much of an enthusiast, so I thought a spring rifle rather than CO2 would be best. He has mentioned a figure of £100. Before I go to my usual gun shop for a look, is this realistic? What kind of thing would I be looking at? I won't go into .22 vs .177... TuftySnuffer
Judging from the posts in the airgun section there is a very informative post about a HW95 copy at the back of this forum. Rather than jumping on the chinese bashing bandwagon you could try one of these and do as the posters say. Other than that any decent second hand HW or AA would do. regards PGB
Townie
Thanks. Would that be within the £100 budget?

Townie
Yes, that looks ideal. What do people think about the BSA Lightning? Whatever I get, I'm looking forward to playing with it at home for a couple of days when my wife's out before passing it on. We have a couple of tree rats in need of urgent attention. rabbithunter2008
Any air rifle kicking out up to the limit of 12lb will do the job
