tweety pie
Can anyone let me know if it's ok to let my 8 month old Lab chew toys etc or will this give him a hard mouth? Thanks
MC
My Springer has always had chew toys etc, he has possibly the softest mouth going. Unless he has a tennis ball and then for some reason he will not let go until you tell him "DEAD" and he releases it. Playing tug of war with him will make him hard mouthed, chewing is natural for dogs. better a toy than your dining table leg. jef
My cocker did a lot of chewing as a pup but she eventually gave it up. However, recently she has started again, not so much furniture but shoes/slippers etc. If we've got the fire on at night (rarely but more and more recently) she will pull a log from the basket and chew it quite happily. I put the original chewing when she was a pup down to her teath. Do dogs continually develop new teeth throughout their lives or just the one set? tweety pie
I dont know mate. But you do hear that you shouldnt give your pup some food and some toys because they still have there puppy teeth. Whether these teeth fall out and adult teeth replace them like we do when we are young , i dont know.
MC
Yes the puppy teeth will fall out and be replaced by the adult ones, the first time you get one stuck in your foot you will know the true pain of child birth (apparently)
