Chewing

My Springer has always had chew toys etc, he has possibly the softest mouth going. Unless he has a tennis ball and then for some reason he will not let go until you tell him "DEAD" and he releases it.

Playing tug of war with him will make him hard mouthed, chewing is natural for dogs. better a toy than your dining table leg.

My cocker did a lot of chewing as a pup but she eventually gave it up. However, recently she has started again, not so much furniture but shoes/slippers etc. If we've got the fire on at night (rarely but more and more recently) she will pull a log from the basket and chew it quite happily.

I put the original chewing when she was a pup down to her teath. Do dogs continually develop new teeth throughout their lives or just the one set?
