JR1960
I see in a recent national survey that woodies are now the third most common garden bird. Now i know where the little ******* nip off to during the day; while i'm stuck in a windy hedge in the middle of the farm they're in my garden knocking hell out of the fruit trees! scolopax
Twenty five years ago when I was young teenager and very keen back garden hunter woodpigeons were a rare sight, as were collared doves, the principle quarry being starlings and sparrows for the ferrets (the things I did then which I cringe about now).. Now there are plenty of doves but the main increase has been in woodie numbers, there are loads of 'em! I have had some good days decoying on various farms fringing suburbia, and the flightlines are from the urban areas.
