Been thinking about getting a Gen 1 Night vision monocular. Its for spotting really to get charlie in close without the use of a lamp til the last minute when he gets to meet my .223 Round. But it has got me thinking before I part with some cash what is out there Ideally after a monocular but can be swayed. Budget is fairly low prob £300 tops for the right piece of kit.

Just wandering if anyone in Devon & Cornwall uses anything NV wise and would be willing to meet up and demonstrate it to give me some idea of Gen 1/2 differance and the sort of performance I can expect for my ££

Hi,

I had a Gen 1 upto about a week ago, i sold it on flebay for more than i paid for it  the main problem i had with it was not good enough to see more than about 100 yards even on a clear night. I would hope a gen 2 would be a lot better but have not seen through one myself. Pity you did not mention this a couple of weeks earlier i could of dropped it round for you to have a go for a few days when i pick up the hmr.

I do have a contact near me who i have been told has a very good night vision set up i will dig around and see if i can sort something.

hi,

i was asking similar question not so long ago but i couldnt justifie it for airgun, now a rimmy centre fire i would of bought one,for your money and what you want its the cobra merlin apparently good to 100 yard and more with diapol if ive spelt that right ir, the merlin unit is around 330 new but the diapol dont come with it.

used you will get a merlin with the ir and add on stuff for 250-300.

thats the best gen1 add on or sptter in your range.

cheaper options are yukons, remember this you will need a dedicated side px scope as well if you dont already have one,i dont like to do this but in this case it would be excellent advice so im going to say it,check out airgun bbs is night vision section and do a search.

best thing after the merlin is gb sights at 400-500 which is also add on on monoculer.

now theres a big thing going on with aldis, they have monoculers for 90 quid and every one is raving on how good they are for the money.

you could get one and add a ir or try scope mount it but if your after just a spotter then add a ir and and you should be ok to 100yard apparently what ive read there ok out to 50yard straight out the box.

They have sold out my local Aldi only ordered 5 in!! how stupid is that for the manager, he said they wont be getting anymore.. Keen to get my hands on something though so if anyone does have anything for sale locally or has something I could try that would be great
