X LeErOy X
my freind is applied for his shotgun and he has been looking at different shotguns for pigeon shooting. he really likes the side by sides with fixed chokes /is this going to be any good for pigeon shooting? or is the auto a better bet for pigeon? Bleeh
What ever suits you best, it's that simple, you can always get more than one. For a limited budget, I'd go for a SBS, they also alot simpler, which means they should be alot more reliliable.
vole
Side by sides are lovely to use if you can find one to suit you. I shoot clays with mine too and even though am fairly large build do feel the recoil after a couple of rounds as they are a lighter gun so if your bag is going to be 100+ ........Then again folk have been shooting driven game for years with them for good reason. I sometimes load 2nd barrel with something heavier just in case.
Trussman
Side by Sides have gone down in popularity in recent years. I love them though and the next gun I get will be a SxS. They're good guns for the hide on account of their good handling. However, alot of autos have as good handling, are easier to reload in a cramped hide and the felt recoil will be alot lower if you fire off alot of cartridges in one day. It's down to personal choice.
Imperfection
Never could get on with S/S and always favoured O/U's...until i recently got back into shooting & discovered semi-autos! Recoil is good with an auto if you're shooting a lot and they're also fairly light too.Maintenance is a little more involved because of more moving parts, but neither is it hard. The only negative thing i've found is spent cartridges are ejected sometimes 5ft away or on my neck like what happened last week at clay shoot when it bounced off the frame!
