Mungler
There is a very reasonable Tikka .243 in the for sale section
labrador
(qoute moses)"A 243 will do everything you ask of it, 100grn normas will take down a red stag no problem. My mate shot a royal red stag with his Sako A2 243 and it dropped like a stone. The thing weighed over 650lb head on!It's all about where you put the bullet." i totaly agree with you moses, i have never had a problem with the .243 for red deer. and i know a fair few highland estates where the keepers use .243 rifles with 100g bullets as the main estate rifles. in my opinion the caliber is not important. 200 yards and under all deer legal calibers do the same thingits all about placement. lab. Cushat
FAC arrived this morning (eventually - Thames Valley computer systems is in a mess and confusion over what Shotguns I owned delayed things a bit) and I'm off to pick up a Sako 75 stainless synth in 243 this afternoon. Was going to try and get a tikka but very few about and was quoted April by a couple of dealers (and then one turns up in the for sale section as soon as I put a deposit on the Sako)! Thanks everyone for your advice
