30-6
Does anyone know if there is a headlamp powerful enough to spot rabbits when lamping ?, and by headlamp I mean worn on the head, (like old John Darling used to use), at the moment I spot with a handheld 6v lamp, then put it in my pocket move into range and shoot with another lamp on the scope off a tripod. This shares the load on the batteries ans saves waving the gun around. This set up works but if my hands were free for only the gun would be a lot better. I'm wondering if I could somehow fix a Deben mini onto my head. Would need to be able to spot for 75yds as I use .22 rimfire or FAC air when lamping. Cheers in advance
perfect
i would expect its quite hard to keep the lamp on the taget while dipping the head into the stock to get a clear shot?
30-6
You haven't read the question correct, the headlamp is only for spotting, the scope lamp is for shooting.
perfect
so why not just use the Deben mini on the gun? spot the target check for backstop saftey off and shoot ? Edited October 19, 2008 by perfect
Baldrick
Carry the gun slung over your shoulder, and use a hand-held Lightforce 140 on a (elasticated) lanyard. I have dicked around with headtorches many a time, and it simply doesn't work for solo lamping. The most powerful headtorches are the Silva series for orienteering racing, fed by belt-mounted battery packs. They are expensive, and very uncomfortable. perfect
seems to me walking around with a bright light on the head would make you stick out like a sore thumb if it was on continuous each to there own i suppose.
