malkiserow
Just looked at a Beretta 303 sporter 28inch with 2.3/4 chamber magnum proof but not steel proof marked Is this limited for wildfowling being only 2.3/4 ? condition:- metal work very good just a slight dink wood, not too bad some knocks on the stock but checkering good and forend good Judging by the wear not too much use only half choke (3 notches) choke suck in no choke key (how much for a new one?) How much should I pay for it if it is any good for wildfowling? Thanks
MC
To be honest in these days of non toxic you really need at least a 3" chamber. 2 3/4" is fine if you are flighting over a pond but on the foreshore most of your shots are going to be at some range. If you are after an auto then you could do a lot worse than the Winchester SX3 with a 3 1/2" chamber. Or keep looking for a second hand beretta xtrema. The half choke is too restrictive as well, non toxic shot especially steel patterns a lot tighter than lead. I use cylinder in my xtrema and get good kills and sensible ranges. If I were you I would keep looking
wisecobandit
If its not steel proofed its not ideal in my eyes considering you need non toxic shot for wildfowl. It will cost you if you constantly shoot bismuth or hevi shot. I shoot wildfowl but never use 3" carts as i feel they are only really needed for 40yd geese etc as you can get 42gram 2 3/4 carts fairly reasonable. Choke keys are cheap enough. I would agree with mc that you keep looking tbh tho.
