snozzer
One for David and Ian please... I am a BASC member so have access to the T&Cs for the BASC scheme, but I can not find the SACS scheme details anywhere. Any chance you could both post them for the benefit of us all. In particular who are the underwriters and what do you cover prior to the policy going "on risk"
Pinkfooty
My understanding is that the under the BASC scheme every member is a policy-holder in their own right and the insurance is governed by FSA regulations. Not sure about SACS but I know that the SGA scheme is different in that the organisation has a single policy which gives some cover to its members but they members are not, themselves, policyholders. I have a feeling the CA is the same and that SACS might be similar to that but doubtlessly Ian will explain. I am not sure that one model is better than the other, as long as they meet FSA requirements and cover all the risks that members want to be covered. A lack of response to your question may lead to people draw the wrong conclusions. Do not assume that Officers from every Shooting Organisation regularly read Pigeon Watch Forums. V8landy
I asked a question to the SACS and I think it covers what you want to know? See reply below. Our insurance is a commercial policy with NFU Mutual, and under its terms, the Association and all of its members at any given time are covered by the policy. It has been in force continuously since 1994 and is simply renewed annually (on 1st October). We are not registered with the FSA as we do not sell insurance to our membership - the insurance is simply provided to members as part of the services we include as membership benefits. Under these circumstances, I am advised by our insurers that the FSA regulations do not apply to SACS. I will shortly receive the new certificates of insurance from the NFU, and I would be happy to supply you with a copy if you join us, although we do not do this automatically. David BASC
Thank you for helping this along V8. Yes I think that this sums up the SACS position very clearly on the availability of their insurance policy to members and prospective members I hope my earlier post sums up the BASC position clearly also, as we believe every member should automatically get a copy of the policy when they join and have a policy summary also ,even before they join. Of course if there are any other issues please let me or of course Ian know and I am sure we will both do our best to help. David
