dave1372
Hi Guys, Thought I should chip in to help those who get fed up getting knockbacks I must have had at least 40 and I reckon most the time it is not because someone else shoots it is because farmers a funny breed of people who are too sceptical of people they don't know and don't trust people who just turn up at their door! You need to be introduced or recommended. Find out where your local agricultural machinery suppliers are and get to know the sales reps. These guys are your potential goldmine ......bear in mind these guys have often spent many years looking after the same farms selling them tractors etc (and golf courses - grass cutting machinery) and developing good relationships. Buy the sales guys a pint....bribe them a little....they are sales guys driven by money! Let them do what you can't do when you are working and it saves you petrol money! The farmers will trust their recommendations and gives you the introduction you need. It will not happen over night but give it time and keep in touch with the sales guys ie a bottle for Xmas and Easter etc and you will be the first person they call when the farmer moans about the pigeons and you will get land to shoot. Let them know what your trade is and do them a favour or tell them to offer the farmer the favour. I had the sales rep phone me up to borrow my petrol pressure washer for a guy at a golf course and the guy at the golf course said they would return a favour, the sales guy did my shooting pitch for me and hey presto, now got permission for the golf course. The sales guy has also got me 2 permissions elsewhere. Be patient, good things come to those that wait and it only costs a couple bottles of whiskey a year, well cheap if you ask me. Good Luck
Dirty Harry
The same could be said for vets, accountants, financial advisors, the lady at the countrywide counter and the bloke who drives the milk tanker. It's called word of mouth. Harry
