ernyha
Right you airgun boys, Ern needs your advice. I bought a new BSA Superstar in the early 90's late 80's (can't be bothered to look out the receipt) and the tin of pellets that he threw in with the deal is nearly empty. The time is approaching when I will need to invest in another 500 and I don't want to get it wrong as the next lot will probably be my last. I fitted the gun with a Theoden gas ram but otherwise it is standard and the pellets I have been using are Wasp 5.6mm. Whats your advice on the next tin I buy? PS. I use the gun for garden vermin and the odd feral on the farms.
darren m
Ern -- eley wasps ( 5.56) are pretty good usually in the BSA , because of the larger bore ( very , very , slightly ). but my next choice would have to be H&N field target trophys , they also work really well in most guns , especially springers , got a good medium weight and very good ballistics . Darren ... Funny you should mention them as it made me think back to a day a few years back when a farmer who asked me to shoot some woodies for him also said "Bring your airgun as well and have a go at some ferals." I took the airgun but forgot to take my tin of Wasps so went to the nearest shop which was for fishing tackle and bought the only .22 pellets he stocked. Just been and found them and guess what. H & N 5.5mm Field and Target Trophy. There must be well over 400 in the tin so will use them then although last time I did, the scope was well out compared to the Wasps. Also being smaller they seem to fall into the breech as opposed to me having to push the Wasps in. Oh well, will just have to waste 10 re-setting the scope then. dunganick
my old fav is the hobby 500 for field, but ive been trying rws hollow points, and they are bloody accurate, but i've not had a chance to gauge their expansion on bunnies, just tree rats, i'm afraid to say they didnt impress me on the old squirells
