jweaver
I live in South Wales, but since I have just been granted my SGC, I am going to be doing a fair bit of travelling about next week looking at guns... So, I just wonder if anyone has found any bargains (For 1000 cartridges) in the South West (Bristol, Street, South Wales, Devon, etc) Litts are currently 28g Plastic for £124 (not sure of the make) so was going to get those.. But I wonder if there is anything cheaper? or atleast better value... Jon
Spaniel
I know a while back when i was looking Litts were the cheapest at the time. But i have not purchased any cartridges for a while to be honest, if you do find any where on your travel cheaper let me know please Edited November 28, 2008 by Spaniel
Pykie
Ladds of Crediton and The Sportman Gun Centre in Exeter are both excellent places for cheap but good, reliable cartridges
jweaver
Ladds of Crediton and The Sportman Gun Centre in Exeter are both excellent places for cheap but good, reliable cartridges Already checked Ladds and their cheapest are £138... Since the Sportsman now own Litts, I wonder if the prices I have seen locally are the same as the Sportsman? Looks like rather than travelling around, I may as well get mine locally from Litts! Cheers all Jon
Spaniel
I normally use Blue Diamonds or White Golds Fibre for Clays and ive been using Kent and Rio Plas for the Pigeons. Think Kent were quite cheap at the time from Litts but i know the Blue Ds went up in price and i managed to get my hands on some old stock of White Golds at the time from Litts, before they put the price up. If you go to Litts/ Sportaman see how much the aboves are per 1000 at present, just to get an idea of costs Cheers
Windknot
I get most of my cartridges from Brook Bank, but I don't think Wesley is as cheap as Litts. He is cheaper than Mendip, though.
Vince Green
Don't just base your judgement on cheapest because cheapest usually means 28g (1oz). Its worth paying more for 30g.
southernlad
28gr does the job fine for most general uses I can think of... I would second that Sportsman are pretty cheap around here. They seem to do a special on whatever they can get cheaply. At the moment my local one at Southern Counties does a choice of 1000 28gr fibre or 1000 28gr plastic for about £122 when I was last there. Currently the specials are Nobel Sport fibres or D&J plastic 7.5s - neither are the greatest cartridges (pretty dirty and punchy) but they do the job and if you're looking for cheapest then that's your best bet. Got some Lyalvale 28gr 5s for the bunnies for £3 a box of 25 in there too. SL Edited December 4, 2008 by southernlad
sandersj89
If in Devon check out Mole Valley Farmers, their cart prices are pretty keen though the selection is not great at some stores.
Windknot
MVF have branches in Somerset too (best prices on Brattonsound gun cabinets too, FWIW) Also Tincknells country stores in Congresbury and Wells. They stock Hull at competitive prices, and they're open on Sundays, which is useful if you get caught short.
