It always amazes me why fellow left-handers seek to buy true L/H O/Us. I've never owned a true L/H O/U, preferring instead to buy a right-handed gun and then have it cast to fit me. Anyone sensible Shot has his/her gun fitted by a smith anyway, so why accept the massively limited choice of factory L/H O/Us? All you're getting is the palm-swell on the left side, and a factory cast biased for the average southpaw. Few people actually fit the manufacturers' average. Unless you are paying at least Perazzi money, the gun won't feature a left-handed trigger and top lever.

Buy a right-handed shotgun, and pay the money to get it fitted to you. Trust me.

I'm in the same boat,

Although I've been told twice now that O&U shotguns are extremely hard to cast for a left hander, as there is a load of metal in the middle of that stock somewhere.

I've started searching for Right hand guns that have very little.. if any cast on them. One of these should suffice, Failing that order a Hatsan Escort Semi-Auto as these come in lefty setup :good:

i agree. also if you are a beginner just have a go with a cheapie from the local dealer. there is one there for £145 at my dealer which is ok for clays as it goes bang and you do not mind potentially damaging or getting it wet in rough shooting, land rover's or a tractor. the only gun i would only have a left hander for is a pump or semi. cheers

you might as well try a left handed if you shoot left handed because shooting l / h you won't be satisfied untill you try one ... ask your local shop if they'll lend you a l/h on a view to buy our local shop ... well the one... lent me 3 gun's before i bought a lanber 30 l/h 12 sporter delux off them ...

see if you can try 2 or 3 at the shooting ground .. as said before you might be ok with a straight stock or even a right handed . you can still hit clay's with a right handed shooting from your left shoulder ...as for the the opening and loading e.c.t of a right handed / straight / left you will adapt to ....

i've been told 3 maybe 4 differant price's 45 to 75 .. your best bet is to ask a gun smith's to do it for you who will do the work himself .. not your local shop as the local shop well 90 percent of them send them to the gun smith's anyway and put another few quid on ..

To date I have had 17 right-handed O/Us cast to fit me, all with perfect results. I don't need a significant amount of cast, but a good smith isn't unduly hindered by a stock bolt. I need a 15.5" LOP on my guns, so casting and fitting a thick recoil pad usually works out at about £200.

I use true L/H semi-auto shotguns and rifles .

I shoot left handed as I have a left dominate eye. First I got a 150 £ right handed gun and I couldn't hit a thing I converted it to left handed myself see YouTube for how ( willlevimarshall) that was brilliant but I ended up getting a 686s esential beretta left handed with left trigger and mechanism for £565 multichoke eject magic look out for a real lefter I say

my story is this I. Started with a aya yeoman righthander ( I'm left eyed not left handed so I shoot lefthanded) couldn't hit a thing with it so I converted it to lefthanded (look up YouTube for how my nameon YouTube is willlevimarshall) that worked a treat but I ended up getting a letter 686 essential beretta. Left mechanism left trigger and all multichole etc all for £565 brilliant I say look out for a true letter it will save you and be worth the wait.
