JA3llis
Please help i am wondering if anyone could tell me if the open sights on a cz 452 standard can be removed or the sight on the end has to stay fitted. just wondering couldnt find any pictures that show a cz standard without the sight fitted even when they fit a scope and mod. Thanks
Lloyd90
The CZ American is the same as the regular but without the open sights. Or do you want the open sights for a reason ?
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Back sight is held on with a pin, the front sight mount will come off in theory but in reality won't budge. Have a barrel chop to get rid of. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh316/D...EA/DSCN4953.jpg

buchangun
I paid £50 to have a CZ choped ,threded and re crowned - the rear sight slides out - totally worth the money - go for it!
cat amongst the pigeons
i got the same problem with my cz lux but cant seem to slide the rear sight off? i got an SAK moderator which is a good but makes the rifle a bit long though and its not a grub screw 1. want to get mine shortened and re-threaded at some point Edited December 4, 2008 by cat amongst the pigeons
Curly87
On my old CZ standard you could only remove part of the iron sights, I never found the front ones to be much of a problem but I did have to add higher scope mounts in order to fit a x50 scope Here is a pic, you can see what part of the iron sights remain both parts cannot be removed from the gun:

Hornet 6
Here is a pic, you can see what part of the iron sights remain both parts cannot be removed from the gun: Both parts of the sights can be removed, the front one is soldered in place so I just cut the barrel off behind the sight. The rear sight is a press fit and located with a pin, you need to drive the pin out, then drive the sight mount off with a big hammer. If you just want to remove the sliding ladder part of the rear sight, press down on the front on the ladder and slide it backwards, it will come right out, leaves a bit more room for the scope. But remember if you remove the sight mount on a .22lr one you also lose the front barrel lug srew. Mine is a WMR which does not use the sight base as a mounting screw, some people do run without the front screw. Neil. buchangun
£50 seems to be the going rate in NE Scotland - I have had my CZ.22lr and my CZ .243 both chopped and threaded at two different places fror £50 - both were local gunshops. If you up this way the best guy to go to is Eric Burnett in Mintlaw - he is a gunsmith with a workshop at the back of the outdoor clothing store ( Burnetts) just off the the roundabout - he well known arround here as a real good 'old school' gunsmith.
