mls77
I currently have a 18mth old border terrier whos is coming on nicely he hunts very well, absolutely fearless but as with all terriers has the killer instinct and constantly mouths anything i shoot, I'm considering another dog and have been reading up on these sprockers lots of positive stuff like "getting the best of both worlds " . But i'm in two minds wether to go for pure bread cocker or springer spaniel. Any thoughts from other dog owners much appreciated cheers
sbald
I have a cocker and a springer, although neither are fully trained as gun dogs, The springer is very easy to control and always does as told, the cocker is eagre to please but also has a mind of her own and sometimes if she doesnt want to do something she will not do it. mls77
I'm actually considering springer/cocker cross. Rather than pure bred cocker or pure bred springer, didnt really make that clear originally
gav
my father in law has working cockers they are like mini rockets they go like poo of a shovel in any where to get anything . they get less injuries than a springer as they are smaller so get further into bushes easier ! am going to use one of his dogs to cover my springer because i think they would have good pups ! the downside of having a " cross breed " as some would say is the fact that they wont be kc registered etc so cannot enter competitions , or be worth as much !
