Billy.
Has anyone ever managed to stop their dog from whimpering with excitement when you're about to pull the trigger of your gun? My lab loves shooting; if you take the shotgun in the garden and point it up as if you're about to shoot, he stops completely and stays as still as possible, waiting for the bang. However if I've got the rifle, he cries and doesn't wait for the bang. I took him out earlier lamping, he was in the back of the landy and every time the motor stopped he was crying and whimpering. I tried to calm him down, but the excitement got the better of him. I did also throw the rabbit in the back with him, as I thought it might keep him occupied and interested in something else, but shooting seemed to be more interesting... Has anyone got a solution (apart from not taking the dog) for this?
