myzeneye
ive been looking around to buy a new coat to shoot in for a while now... i had ex army goretex gear which was very well made gear, but a little noisy and worst still, had no pockets! this was a bad thing as it meant i had to take a bag along with me, wich was a bit of a hinderance.... so, i ordered a deer hunter montana off tinternet... morgans angling in oswestry, for a great price of only £114 !!! it came, but unfortionailty i found it fitted me great on the body, but the arms were a bit restrictive and short and caused problems when rasied in a gun toting position and further still were imposible in the prone position.... so, i sent it back and as they didnt have the next size up, i had to get one else where... again another cheap good deal from shooting shop in dorset... £123...... this came, but was bigger on the body but the same fit on the arms?? tight across the shoulders etc... it was like the cut of the coat was not designed for shooting at all???? beyond me for a jacket which is so highly revered.. this too had to go back !! what i had saved in bargain purchases, i had made up in return postage costs !! the woes of internet shopping.... so, on saturday i went to ********** in wigan...great blokes in that shop.... tried the max 4 gear... it was just huge fitting...very bulky .... then i tried on a seeland beater. what a world of differance. this, my good people, is a very well thought out shooting /outdoor coat. it fits like a glove. long, like a parker yet "action cut " and "action cut "pre-shaped arms... big cartridge pockets , hard waring material on elbows, sleeves, shoulders and inside pockets... free, built in dog whistle inside pocket to dement my dog with too!!! game pocket at the back etc etc etc .... water proofing is very very good, windproofing is great to plus its totally silent........ as its in a very inconspicuous shade of green as opposed to realtree tec.. it blends in great out doors and i dont look like john rambo at the petrol pumps on the way to the shoot either !!! in the end, i paid £130 for it, wich from what i see on the net, is a good price.... got there in the end, but at least im now very happy with my purchse. i would HIGHLY reccomend this coat to anyone. one other thing to anyone who has one already.... it has extra zipps inside for adding a fleece, but i dont know which fleece is designed to go in it? dont think just anyone will go it as the zips arnt chunky ones on most fleeces..... can anyone point it out... Cranfield
Its a pity you didn't have a look in the shooting magazines, or online first. John Forsey Guns have them in their sale for £99.99. A very good coat.

Totally agree - Bought one myself and sent it back for exactly the same reason, then was told about them not holding the next size up. So they offered me a deal on the Rusky - ordered it - next size up in AP - had to wait for it to come over form denmark (a week or so) then got it through cost me £150 complete with the inner jacket - l have now taken this out as its just too much when rough shooting, good for extreme cold weather, and even when it was really cold l didn't need it over Xmas. I agree on the cut of the Montana - shocking - Rusky's a totally different coat - happy as a pig in ****!! T
Cranfield
Alas, the sale price was only for extra small sizes. Normal price: http://www.johnforsey.co.uk/clothing_coats...and_beater.html Not quite so, as the one my friend brought in the Sale was size 44" (they come up big) and the range was 40"-48" at the time. http://www.johnforsey.co.uk/Images/Sale/salead.gif I have just rung them and they have indeed just sold out of them. But, it does show its worth shopping around.
myzeneye
well, i did shop around, and decoying uk in wigan came up good at £130... a good price...and after all the hoo har off internet purchases being sent back etc.. it figures its better to buy from a local shop, even if its slightly dearer as you can be sure the purchase is right, not waste more cash on insured returned postage... cheers for the heads up though...... mate.
