Site upkeep

Thanks mike, fortunately the hardisk drive which is now broken (just glad the data could be rescued off it!), is still under warranty and so it will not cost extra, just a bit of hassle and a nuisance! I'm trying to sort out a new advertising deal which should ensure the costs are better covered. Thanks in the past for everyone's donations they have made a big difference, but at the moment we are OK for funds in relation to funding the sites costs, I will let you know if the situation changes.

why dont you run a raid 1 mirror , that way if one disk goes down the other is a back up and you just plug a new one in which should automatically write back all the data onto the new drive. You can buy a controller card for £10 and then just a couple of disks £70 for a couple off 80 gigs should do .

Give us a pm if you need any help etc , Happy birthday by the way .

Teal,

Barrie0's advice is good in terms of keeping the site up after a disc failure. One thing I would also do is ensure that you have the data backed up. That way if your discs crash again (and they will !) you have a copy of the data to re-build.

Best option is online backup, it's automatic, no hassle and cheap.

Drop me a mail/pm if you want any help/advice with this.

All the best,

Browning
