pheasent plucker
just finished a good season beating for my friend and local keeper, and its now time for roost shooting again woo hoo, had a couple of hours last week on the flight last thing and shot 15 woodies and they were crammed full of ivy berries as the rape around us in leicestershire is very poor this year as crops didnt get in till late. anyone else found the same?? stevethefish
Hi I have had the same for the last couple of weeks, they are that stuffed full of berries their crops burst when they hit the floor. Never seen as many with ivy berries in them, thought it was just me doing a good job keeping them off the rape!
Jurrasicway
Hi, Over the last few weeks in Daventry about 50% of my birds have had ivy berries in their crops. I was speaking to an old farmer last week who said if you eat pigeon who have fed on ivy it gives you stomach cramps B) . I have had a few and not noticed. Has anyone else heard of this? Shooting Tom
Yer... around here close to you they spend more time in the woods eating berry than on the rape as the weather has been sooo bad there is not really any rape to eat, once they get spraying the rape it will go mad and when it gets warmer lol, then it will be good shooting I hope Edited February 4, 2009 by Shooting Tom
