Led_zePPelin
I'm kind of new to air rifles (I've shot a friend's rifle that he found in a skip) and I'm looking for some help. I was thinking of getting a Gamo Viper Max for vermin control. Would this be suitable, or could I aim for something better within this price range? Thanks for any help, Dave. macca
Gamo change their models every few years and it becomes difficult to get parts. If you want a good break action BSA or Weirach. Parts usually arn't an issue and the quality is far superior.

Led_zePPelin
I've decided to go with an XL tactical for £255, (I have no idea if this comes with a scope or not) or if I don't like the feel of the stock, there's a second hand XL for £235 (with scope etc). The problem I have with a second hand gun is, I don't know how well the previous owner treated it. He could have been using silicon spray for lube, things like that. Thanks for all advice, (and any more if you want) Dave.
caplock
I've got a 20 yr old Weihrauch HW80 in .22 that still puts out max power after a new seal 5 years ago. Also got a 10 year old HW77 in .177 and a very recent HW97 in .177 both rifles again very near the limit. Can't go wrong with the German engineering and can be bought with the same money as the Lightning. The best bits about the HW range has got to be the triggers
