Salopian
Any tips for shooting pigeons in the rain? I have regularly been out in the rain, and I got to thinking.I cannot remember ever having a decent day's pigeon shooting when it is raining. One memorable (but not very pleasant day) was spent drinking tea and eating sandwiches watching and waiting for a pigeon to even fly within sight.Never did see one that day? Have any of you got any thoughts on rainy days? Don't bother? Or have you got a master plan you can share with me (us)?
Billy.
I find patchy rain can help, especially if they're being a bit stubborn and wont budge from a local field. I wouldn't be sat out in the pouring rain, they'll be doing what you should be doing: sheltering and not getting wet
MerseaDavid
there is very rarely a rainy day that will produce a good bag. You will normally get the best bags when the rain keeps stopping for a few minutes because this gives the birds a chance to feed and they will come in hard and fast. Salopian
Thank you chaps. I thought I was going crackers, having lived all my life by the rule that a bad days pigeon shooting beat a good day at anything else, especially work. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong, needed a different pattern or something.Good to know that you struggle also. So if I wake up and see rain in future I think I will spend time trying to decoy her into my bed instead. No I won't need any dummies, flappers, magnets, bird seed or help thank you very much.
