Scope Height

There's a bit of a mixed bag of answers on the net.

"(Scope width/2) + Barrel Width/2 + (distance from base of scope to top of barrel/2)"

"Just measure the middle of the scope to the middle of the barrel"

"Just measure the base of the scope to the top of the barrel"

Please can someone set the record straight on the correct way to measure scope height for use in a ballistics calculator.

I did search the forum first and found nothing.

take out the "/2" in your last term for the distance between the top of the barrel and the bottom of the scope. You want half of the diameter of the scope tube (either 1" or 30 mm divided by two), you add half the diameter of the barrel where the scope is mounted, and then add the distance between the scope and barrel. That will get you pretty close for a ballistic calculator.

Thanks

Rick
