sharpshot Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 I want to start reloading my own ammo in .222 and Id like to know how much id save compared to factory ammo and the roundabout prices for each bit of the reload ( ie heads , powder + primers ) Can anyone advise me on this. macca Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 Hi, out here I save at least 50%. I use a lot of ammunition and find reloading economical and enjoyable. If you are satisfied with the ammunition you use and dont consume a lot of cartridges then its good to do a calculation as to how long it will take to recover the cost of your setup to see if it worthwhile. You will also be able to tune a load to your rifle . Yes it is cheaper ,its all part of the hobby and is a nice way to spend a few hours . Be very careful as it can become all consuming . The costs on mine are: Powder Hogdon 4198 20gr = 4.8p Primers CCI benchrest = 2.8p Bullets 50gr V max = 15p So 22p per load or 4.40 per box of 20,now with Winchester CXP at 9.65 a box of twenty thats less than half.
