rsrjerry
Hi Just been reading a letter in this weeks shooting times and a guy was out grey squirrel drey poking and they had 3 stoats come out of different dreys - was wondering if any one else has heard of this - of interest to me cause if stoats are starting to do this -this will be another threat to the red squirrel. one thought was due to the lack of rabbits about now ? cheers
Tommo
I'd still shoot them all the same! Brown rats an all! T
Orkney Gun
Cant help you there as we have no stoat, weasel, fox, snake on the Orkney(Ronaldsay) nor do I want them.I heard many years ago whilst training at the old Game Conservancy in HAMPSHIRE that they will most likely inhabit a squirrel drey in (cold extreme weather) and/or investigate by following a scent left by the squirrel, (straight up the tree trunk). As for the REDS we have plenty here as there are no greys on the island...NOR DO WE WANT THEM... (35 mile swim thank god) Edited March 1, 2009 by Orkney Gun
firsttimer
Orkney Gun- where do you keep all the reds? In burrows! Thought all the trees got blown away in the storms?

Ferret Master
It's not unknown for a hunted fox or mink to hop up a convienient tree. FM
