Shooting Tom
What pattens do you uses over rape, with a magnet and floater x 2. I know the links to the website with pictures and ideas. i would just like to know what ones you think work best. And does the wind speed and weather effect the pattens and the way the pigeons may decoy. Thanks
12borebanger
i keep the decoys quite close together in two groups over rape, seems to work quite well an attracts attention from a distance
MerseaDavid
When shooting over rape with the wind in my back I will put the decoys into 2 groups either side of the hide about 30 yards out with about a 30 yard gap between the 2 groups. I will put the magnet right infront of the hide about 20 yards out and then put the 2 bounces about 35 yards out (one to the far right of the pattern and one to the far left of the other group of decoys). MerseaDavid
And I also will loft 3 or 4 decoys in a tree and this will help draw birds in.
Shooting Tom
What pattens do u use L shape or the U shape, or just random close together.
MerseaDavid
I will generally put the decoys out in small clumps with about 2-3 feet between them. . <-2 bouncers out side ->. :::: <- 30 yard gap -> :::: ...............hide................... <-hedge I will then put the magnet just infront of the hide (15-20 yards out), so it is like a U shape with the magnet being at the bottom of the U. Always face the birds in different directions not just into the wind. Edited March 3, 2009 by MerseaDavid

MerseaDavid
They look ok. I am not sure if they will work as good as proper bouncers but they should draw the birds in.
