Warlock
I need some help with some wing spreaders, they came with a pigeon magnet i bought from UK shootwarehouse, how do you attach a bird to them? i can`t see how i can fit a dead bird onto them as they are, this being the case what would people advise? anser2
I am not sure with the type of magnet you have , but with mine I push the main spike up through the vent to the pigeons neck and as far up towards the head as it will go. Then I push the wing spikes through the wing joints to hold the wing open. There is sometimes a problem with the wing slipping down the spike , but if you reduce the tension between the wing spikes and the body this is cured. A friend has fitted a couple of washers 1 inch down the wing spike and this has stopped the problem.
Warlock
These are a V shape with each of the 2 prongs bent upright, the uprights aren`t spiked. there is no 3rd spike. this is what is confusing me. I really am a muppett, i just realised if i slide the V down the main arm then it has 3 prongs. OH MY GOD I`M THICK!!! jonboy1
i have the same set up as you by the sound of it and i've found that the best way to stop the wings slipping down the spreader is to the snap the bone in between the shoulder and the elbow, it takes out all the tension in the wing and stops it trying to fold into the body, cheers jon
