unclemicky
I was shooting at Bolton NRP and I could not under stand why my shooting was so rubbish , so I thought a service was in order , I now know why a new spring is on order , any one have any idea why the spring should break like this , my Webley is 30 years old so maybe fatigue an wear an tear
Hezbear
Like you said fatigue and general wear and tear could cause the spring to break, has the gun been left cocked for a while so putting excess pressure on the spring
unclemicky
Hez not really I think a little bit of "ham fistedness" from me dident help
unclemicky
New spring fitted could not push it in by hand so had to make a jig from two pieces of flat bar and some threaded 8mm bar , like a spring compressor , squashed it in and fixed the holding pin back in a lot harder to cock so must be a bit more powerful than the 8.4lb ft I was getting with the old broken spring happy days
Hezbear
Pleased you've got it sorted mate, i was talking to a lad today and he took the spring out his lightening and that had a extra couple of coils threaded on the end, don't know why though
unclemicky
If it was a 2nd hand gun the previous owner could have thought it would have produced more power if it was like that from new ?? is that how they make them , All I know is that those ox springs are really tough
Ferret Master
Get it chronoed asap mate. Ox springs have a nasty habit of pushing many guns over the limit. FM
unclemicky
FM I will, my mate has my chrono so will post the results when done
Hezbear
It was bought second hand, but i wouldn't think that a extra 3 coils would make much difference. As ferretmaster said get it chronographed as soon as possible, i know someone who put one in his supersport loaded it and fired, snapped the crosshairs, he put a one piece dampa mount on and it seemed fine till he got it checked and it was over the limit
