Cranfield
If you have a "gun fitting" session, do you come away with a personal set of measurements/specifications that you can have any of your guns fitted to and it will fit you ? Or, do you have to have a separate fitting for each gun you own ? I was asked this question today and as I have never had a gun fitted, I don't know the answer. A Google around doesn't provide a clear answer.
jonnyoftheboy
my understanding from when I enquired re. a gunfitting session (90 mins) at west kent was that you would walk away with a personal set of measurements that you can have your gun fitted to. You would use the "try gun" during the session that would enable this. I booked a gun fit lesson with an instructor in essex.... only to find he did not have a try gun & proceeded to tell me what needed doing to my guns to make them fit - not really what I was expecting, but I then had a good lesson ref. my technique (or lack of..!!)... so didn't moan. Dunkield
I had a fitting for a shotgun many years ago at West London Shooting School. I came away with a card with the stocks dimensions taking from the try gun, I gave those to a stocker when I bought my Beretta and he altered the stock to suit. I honsetly don't remember how much it cost, but I looked at prices not that long ago out of interest and I thought it was very eye wateringly expensive My advice (FWIW) would be to have an instructor look at you shoot, a good will tell you in an instant if you need a fit or not.
