RABID_DOGG Posted March 17, 2009 Report Share Posted March 17, 2009 hi guys looking for some info on rat hunting /baiting i have just gained a farm who's duck we use to shoot before the foot and mounth. well i was just having a drive about over the weekend and stoped by for a chat and he siad he was going to give rentakill a call sort his rats out so i asked if i could do it for free and he almost bit me hand off. he all so wants crow and rabbits sorted how lucky am i but back to the rats i have read about baiting them will they use a man made bait platformthat comes out into the open if i bait it over a few days all so can they see red light as i will be lamping with a red filter any tips or info welcome many thanks daz Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
henry d Posted March 17, 2009 Report Share Posted March 17, 2009 Baiting will probably be a waste of time as if there is a good population, then there has to be a good food source and if so bait is a waste of time. However if you can clean up the "food source" then you have a chance. Rats are also "neo-phobic" so will avoid anything that is new in there area for up to a couple of weeks and this means you will be wasting time and effort waiting/baiting them. Hezbear Posted March 18, 2009 Report Share Posted March 18, 2009 I use peanut butter or liquidised cat food for them as they can't run away with it like wheat etc, i use a red filter for them as well.
