lord_seagrave
Chaps - if anyone vaguely in the South-East is thinking about having a day or two on the rookeries then would you let me know as I would be delighted to lend a hand. Not that my climbing skills are up to much, but I'd be delighted to turn them into pies for you! LS
Tommo
You wouldn't catch me scooping wing walkers up for pies! T
Pykie
Yeah it is traditionally the 15th of may but they are seeming to be out a month earlier, especially the last few years it seems so keep your eyes open for some sooner than expected! T Really - think about it, a nice rich slab of rook and portobello mushroom pie? With some buttered minty/parsleyy new potatoes? LS

jef
I've started watching for them on my shoot already. I got caught out last year due to them starting early. The largest rookery is busy with plenty of birds on the nests. Yet another roost, which we hit pretty hard last year doesn't have any birds at it at all. Maybe they will start later on or move to it for a second brood?? JF
Warlock
I have a landowner who lets me shoot on 3000 acres of his land he has loads of rooks each year.... trouble is rooks are kind of off limits due to the fact his wife likes them. Supersonic
I wondered where this thread went!! I originally posted it in another section. The reason I asked is that it looks like they are going to be a lot earlier on my patch! Nige
