gwionhermon
Hi I have a Tikka t3 and currently have a 40mm objective scope on it. I am looking to buy a new scope which will have a 56mm objective. I have been told that I will need new scope mounts, but I am not sure which ones I need. Also I have heard people talking about some kind of Tactical Picatinny Rail in order to convert something or other??? I have looked on tikka's website and they say that the "receiver is also tapped to receive standard (weaver) scope mount bases". Please can anyone help. Thank You!!!! Dunkield
If you have Optilock's all you need are the rings and fit them to the bases you already have Do they look like this? http://www.sako.fi/pdf/specs/Optilockring.pdf
Baldrick
Don't bother with the Weaver base for the Tikka. Optilock rings and bases on the standard Tikka dovetails do a cracking job. I had medium-height Optilock rings for a x56 scope with 30mm on my last T3.

gwionhermon
ok thanks guys, can anyone point me in the right direction to a wesite that sell these. been looking for the past 20 min and cant find any.
Baldrick
Various shops on that auction site sell Optilock rings. Any RFD who deals with GMK will be able to source you some. Used rings and bases like this are sometimes squirrelled away in RFDs' cupboards, but available second-hand. Alternatively, just post a 'Wanted' ad on here and on the BBS. Someone will sort you out. LXX73
Burris Signature rings and Burris XTB mount. Cheaper and better than Optilocks.

PAULT
I have two sets of rings, 30mm medium and 30mm low. They are sitting in my box doing nothing. You do not say whether you are currently using Tikka bases or not or what tube size either? would these fit on my t3 or my sako varmint on scope is 50 mm one is 56mm
