Scope mount size/measurement

Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section

How are mounts measured? Is the height from the base of the dovetail to the middle of the ring, or from the base to the top of the ring? Just need to know to determine what size mounts i currently have in relation to mounts i need to buy so i can fit my scope onto my s10 bbk.

Cheers,

Scott

FYI - MOST scope mount makers give hieghts from the bottom of the dovetail to the bottom flat of the scope clamp.

So if you put your calipers across the shortest part of the scope ring (the bit nearest the Rifle) and the flat that sits on the top of the rifle dovetail you will get the height in .001" or mm.

I can take a pic in the morning if that helps?

Jeez thats like asking what rifle or scope should I get.....

Sportsmatch make pretty nice budget mounts, although I now use Burris mounts on my non-Sako mount rifles as all of these have plastic cups inside to prevent excess pressure being put on the side of the scope tube and assuring perfect alignment.

Theyt are quite deat nut IMHO worth every penny. Staruightforward dounble clamp dovetail rings - Sportsmatch take some beating.
