Hi,All,

Need some help guys, please.

I do not shoot clays and need a couple of questions answered:

What is the maximum load for competative DTL and Olympic Trap (are these different disciplines?) shooting?

What shot sizes are used?

What would be the normal/average ish range for a first and second barrel shot?

Well, OK it was three!

Thanks in advance

Not that familiar with DTL, but I think the answers are :-

DTL = 28gram and OT = 24gram

DTL = anything <= 6, OT not sure.... maybe the same.

DTL = Targets are thrown 45 - 50 metres. You'll shoot at around 30 metres, then however fast you are on the 2nd. OT targets are thrown 75 metres and start further forward that DTL, dunno where you'll shoot them though, around 40 and 45 metres ??

Your mileage may vary.

Peter,

Thanks,mate.

Been to the website on your second post whch shows I have to ask one last question.

Is it permissable to use more choke than the standard full choke rating and if so what would that be? As I dont shoot clays, the answer in normal percentage terms would be ideal - my knowledge bottoms out at full, ie70%.

Thanks again.

Yes, you can use whatever choke you like. Extra Full and Super Full if you think you need it.

Personally, having shot two rounds of DTL and two of ABT I can advise from personal experience you don't need anything more than 3/8s or half. LF or M. DTL is fine with 1/4 or IC.

I haven't a clue about OT though, I believe they're slightly faster than ABT, so maybe you may need tighter.
