Rabbiteer
Hello all. I am new to this site and I would like some advice please. I would like to buy a new or decent s/h air rifle which would be used predominantly for the rapid dispatch of rabbits and/or target practice only. I have no wish to hunt any other type of animal or bird as the rabbits I HOPE to bag are strictly for the pot. I have a very willing dog, who loves to chase and dig for rabbits, but to date, has not caught ONE ! (as far as I'm aware) but then, she is a Border Collie! I looked through various sites on the 'net', but for a 'newbie' like me, it's all very confusing, what with specs and other info. The last time I fired off a weapon, it was a .303 SLR for the T.A. quite some years ago now, but I did come 2nd best shot out of a group of 50 men! I'd like something that's within my price range (£280) or thereabouts, something that can have a silencer/moderator fitted and scope (night vision?)as rabbits are so skittish, and preferably one with a decent range as I live in 'sticks' and the fields are quite big. funky
Hi and welcome I use a Daystate X2 but i feel thats a little out of your price range I would defanately go for a Pre Charged Numatic as thay are very quiet. You may be able to pick onr up second hand either the one stated or a S400 or S410 AirArms they are great too Go for a .177 or .22 the .177 having the flatter trajectory may be better when shooting at range and for the targets. hope this helps .... mechanic 22
have a look at the falcon range as you can pick up a fn19 or a fn12 for about 200-250 pound. you get about 80 shots per charge in 22 slighly less in 177 for more info have a look at the reviews on the falcon owners forum. link below........Darren http://falconowners.myfastforum.org/index.php
Blunderbuss
Hello all. The last time I fired off a weapon, it was a .303 SLR for the T.A. quite some years ago now, but I did come 2nd best shot out of a group of 50 men! The SLR was in 7.62mm, its predecessor the No4 bolt action was in .303. Sorry to be picky! Good luck on finding the right rifle, and welcome to the site. Here's to many a rabbit casserole to come! Cheers! Edited April 9, 2009 by Blunderbuss
blackthorn
look for an older precharged something like the air arms s300 pick it up cheaper than the 400-410 go for 177 a head shot rabbit is dead be it 177-20-22-25 plus if target shooting it will be a bit flatter, less hold over, under to hit the kill zone
