Spaniel Posted April 2, 2009 Report Share Posted April 2, 2009 So I have booked some time off next week to spend with the Kids etc, but i also want to do some looking around for some land to shoot Rabbits on. Now to be honest so far there does not seem to be any large numbers around my area which is Hanham Bristol..(Bath side of Bristol) When talking to a few Farmers im normally told that the ground is to wet for rabbits around here...or we have not seen any since the Mid 70s. So i was after some advise on what i should be looking for ref Crops being grown, the landscape of the land which would improve the chances of Rabbits being there etc. Any advise welcomed Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
fieldwanderer Posted April 2, 2009 Report Share Posted April 2, 2009 have a look at an o/s map and try farms on high ground, maybe they'll be drier. That's about the best I can suggest, you may be better saying you want to shoot vermin or help with pest control instead, it's not as easy to turn you away (even if there's no bunnys, there's probably pigeon, squirrels etc). Shooting Tom Posted April 2, 2009 Report Share Posted April 2, 2009 HEY, I live in bedfordshire, There are hundreds of rabbits around here lol , I have a field of grass about 8 acrs, and in the summer last year i when out like every day, and got 2 or 3 each time only out for a hour or 2 in the hours of light. I didnt lamp them, i have know people go around here lamping on quads to get 70-100 rabbits. The land around here has a number of crops alot of grass, barley and rape, they have the edges around which are set aside also alot of hairs. Very hill, and a lot of woods. Spaniel Posted April 4, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 4, 2009 Thanks Guys It is very strange why there does not seem to be many about, i was chatting to the guy down Veals yesterday and he said that it would be hard to find Bunnies around the area, as i need to travel out a bit further fom the towns so to speak, so this is what i will be doing in the week. Anyway got the gun topped up yesterday and brought some Air Arms Diablo Targets pellets so will scope the gun in tomorrow awaiting the great adventure on the Bunnies Cheers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
