Jesse James
Hi All. Well out of the blue I received a call yesterday from a Farmer in Horley / Leigh surrey. he called me after 4 months of my last visit and letter dropping to say i can shot on his farm. from the conversation we had it would appear that the Syndicate he had on his land shooting have not been there for 4 months and he is currently being hit hard by Wood Pigeons and Crows on his Barley, he is drilling and being mobbed by the above birds. From my conversation he has given me the right to shoot every vermin listed on my letter, and i will be visiting first thing tomorrow (Monday) morning to meet and get to see the bounders and have a good chat about services i can provide as well as my shooting buddies. So it does go to show it is worth the time and energy for printing of good letters and face to face chats even if they so no i went back one month later to double check and now 4 months on i may have all the land which seems to be large mass of different types of lands, woods and crops. Google shows it to be fast area of land which is great as its in built up surrey. I would say keep trying and letter drop and face to face meetings if possible, don't give up. I would like to now about the syndicate and where / how i stand....! Can the land owner just give me the rights to shoot what about the Syndicate, I guess that they have offered no service so he has the right to pull it from them. All i guess will be addressed tomorrow.... Any info would be very helpful thank you... Lee
Jesse James
OK update to my first post and visit to see new permission... Meet the owner this morning and took a large bottle of whiskey.... He was well chuffed no one not even from the old shooting Syndicate ever gave him a bottle of drink... The owner of the land gave me a tour of the 230 acres made of 7 different crop fields all next to each other and woods, and within 20 minutes of him signing my paper work me and my son hit the crows in one field bedding down on his barley. My son took his first crow today first bird ever with my 12b and he was made up as much as me i was nearly crying i was so pleased. within the first hour we had taken 12 crows and 5 wood pigeons. total count for 2 hours first visit was 42 crows for around 56 cartridges if i remember . A large black bag full of them, we showed them to the owner no names given he was made up and said in 4 months he had not seen one bird from the shooting syndicate he was very happy and asked me to come back when ever with extra guns so Turbo and John r hope your ready boys.... will try to post some pictures Cheers Lee

Browning GTS
Nice one this just shows that you have got to look after your permissions. I was at my most recent one last week and just before i left the famer took my for a ride around in his 4x4 7 rabbits in 25 minutes with the .17 only had one miss,
Tommo
Just be careful, word of warning if the sindicate is still active or gets wind of somone else on their 'patch' might cause some issues. I had the same senario on one of my permissions that had a sindicate phesant shoot, they thought they had exclusivity, farmer gave me permission to shoot pigeons and it ended up heated in front of the farmer, everything is ok now, but as i say just watch out! Cosd
Well done mate, your patience has paid off, as well as the bottle along with the shot bird evidence. Keep it up, it sounds like you'll give him a better service than the syndicate anyway!

Jesse James
Many Thanks gents for your kind words and advise. Just short update went today to shoot (Yes in the rain.... Not a great day with huge bags but the effort was put in and the owner had seen us set up and was well happy. a second look round today surprised me to say the least..... Empty rusty spent cartridges in most of the corners of the crop fields and even a disposable BBQ and cans of beer... These guys discuss me... no effect to collect there waste, so i bagged it and removed it. I'm glad they no longer have the rights if this how they treat the land and the owners. Once again cheers for the support.
Browning GTS
Rubbish being left is one reason i got my latest land, another was the bloke with the permission mates turning up passing the farmer in the yard and not even saying hello, and ones arriving he had never even seen before. Suffolk shooter
Well done Lee and hope it all works out for you and your son. I had a chat with one of my farmers a couple of weeks ago after i had found spent cartridges in a couple of the woods. Told him, that it was his land to give permission to whoever he so felt deserved it, but I didn't want him to think it was me leaving them there. He asked how many I'd seen, so I showed him the three black bin liners I'd collected in a couple of hours. He wasn't impressed, so I think whoever it was may get a nasty surprise, next time there out. Strange thing was, if they'd been shooting at pigeons coming into roost, there weren't many feathers, certainly no carcasess's so don't think they were particularly good shots.
