Wiltsmark
Hi, while in salisbury on good friday thought i would pop round to Greenfields the gunsmiths just to have a nosey,as it happened shop was closed, kinda expected that really anyway stuck my nose on the window just to see what i could put on my wish list, noticed a flyer on the notice board advertising live pigeon shooting on the wilts/hamp border for £45 a day per gun, my question to you guys, is this a "new" idea being thought up, i havent heard of people paying to do pest control and obviously i am not wanting this to catch on that would kill it for me and besides i thought it was expensive as you also had to supply all your gear, this to me makes clay shooting look a better and cheaper alternative, what do you guy's think? Spaniel
Problem is getting some ground to shoot on and some people dont want all the hassle so paying for it maybe idea for them. I think up North (where there seem to be great numbers of pigeons) they get people from abroad coming over here for a day or Two on the woodies, obviously paying for the oppertunity
Wiltsmark
Never thought about that (people no permission) still seems alot to me tho, bescause they cant guarantee the pigeons coming in ..........can they?
Imperfection
I s'pose its like fishing-you pay for that privilege too.
Wiltsmark
i think in fishing £40 would get you a day ticket on a good Trout lake, and the chance of getting some fish(skill Allowing) but with Pigeon there is the problem of getting them to were your set up, and of course if there feeding, saying that if theres a market there must be a need for day ticket shooting . Ferret Master
The thing with a lake if your not catching is at least you know the fish haven't swam off to pastures new so to speak. People will tire very quickly if they are paying per day to shoot pigeons and there not being a pigeon in sight, this is where a guide is important otherwise there would be little market for this sort of enterprise.
