I have tried the NRA but the person i need to speak to is on holiday until next week. Any idea's where i can get one? Cheers, Jon.
dapper
If you are joining a rifle club. Why do you need a copy of the NRA Probationary Traininng? I am a member of a rifle club. Dave
JonD
Because they use Bisley all new members need to complete the course, as i'm very new to it the sooner i get a copy the sooner i can start learning what i need too. Steel100
JonD I'm the Secretary of an HO Approved Club. Its the club that should be getting you the manual. They have to order them from the NRA (and pay for them). Depending on the club, the manual may be included in the cost of joining or they may charge extra. Incidentally, do you know if their Chairman will then sign you off for an NRA Safe Shooter System Certification card? (Req'd to shoot at Bisley & MoD ranges). It sounds as if you've already tried speaking with Phyllis Farnan at the NRA (out of office reply says 'on leave' until 22nd if I remember correctly). I don't know if they will provide individuals with the book - frankly, I would question how much of it is of use without someone there to talk you through it. Kind regards Andy (NRA Club Instructor)
JonD
Thanks Andy, I spoke to Phyllis yesterday and have arranged a copy of the manual which arrived this morning, to be fair she was excellent. I was expecting to receive an invoice and then when that was paid thought the manual would follow but they both arrived. I would agree that without the associated coaching it won't make much sense, however i think it is beneficial to have it so i can read through and try to commit the basics to memory. I am very new to shooting (rifles anyway) so it's a very steep learning curve but even basic terminology MV, ME etc is now starting to make sense but the most important parts of safety are in there. Cheers, Jon.
