jack_m
Hey, Buying my first shotgun and i've narrowed it down to the 3 guns stated above (second hand),the 686 sporter is £625, the silver pigeon £750 and the 682 is £689, all are 30", multi-choke and the 686 and 682 are sporters (the pigeon is standard, not sure if they're sporters standard??). Any advice of which of these might be best (obviously the fit is very important but in terms of build quality, longevity etc) and the best value for money? Also would you advise buying something like this second hand rather then something like a bettinsoli diamond x or lanber sporting new? Thanks in advance Jack
airgunalex
i have the 686E and i would vouch strongly for it. It has never skipped a beat and is a very good gun to start off with and will also be able to preform at a high level. I have the 28 inch version and find it balances nicely for me (5ft 10). i think the 682 version are the same but just hand made??? i belive anyway im sure some one will be able to help me out on that point? hope this helps a little. jack_m
thanks for the reply, i've definitely decided upon buying second hand rather then new Do you know if the standard 686 silver pigeon is a sporter? It's quite confusing having so many different models starting with 686! Jack
welshwarrior
Had a 682E sporter for over 10 years now and is still working fine. No faults expect it sometimes misses really hard to hit birds (but could just be me ) Balances nicely it's 28 inch sporter with a pad as I'm 6'4. Edited because I can't spell!!
