Edward
Right I have a 1939 Vickers .22lr target rifle with a (stupidly) heavy barrel. It sits in the cabinate doing nothing, Anyone any idea of what it is worth? Its got all the little different sights that go in the tunnel, even got the sling Do you think I should keep it and 'get into' target shooting?? Here is the advert for it Thanks for looking
Imperfection
I'd keep it as a fantastic bit of history and put it to good use!
Guest RemmySPS
Do you think I should keep it and 'get into' target shooting?? Not with that you wouldn't Seriously, just keep it as it would only fetch @ £25 if you sold it because, although it was originally a good target rifle, it wouldn’t hold a candle to modern rifles and ammunition. Lovely old rifle though, and worth owning just for the joy of it.

Guest RemmySPS
You don’t want best match ammo’ and you wouldn’t get the best out of it using cheapo stuff. So you want a fairly good ammo that will shoot through it. See what Eley subs do through it, or if you really do want to see what it will do, buy a box of Match. Just out of interest, is it the original two-point sling? Edited April 30, 2009 by RemmySPS
Edward
thanks for the info the sling studs are the same as in the pic and the sling is original
Guest RemmySPS
We have a couple of old BSA 12/15s at the club, and I would love to buy one just to own it. I have had a BSA MK 2 in the past but moved up to a better rifle as I progressed in the sport. I’d still like an old target rifle like that Vickers though but I have to be careful as I am only allowed 12 guns (including shotguns) before I have to install a monitored alarm system, so I would now have to sell one of my other rifles. Not an option I’m afraid. Keep the old girl and if possible tart her up to look nice.
