Darmah Dan
Does anyone have any experience of how to increase a Theoben Fenman to over 12lbft, and if possible what the side effects are ? (NB I do have FAC, so this is not an issue) Cheers Dan
Devilishdave
I am fairly sure you will be able to get a pump to increase the pressure in the Gas strut. It will be of a special addapter only available from theoben so give them a call and they will give you the definative answer. A good friend of mine recently sent his Countryman Carbine (fore runner to the fenman) back for over-haul after 15 years cost £70 plus postage both ways they did a real good job though and refilled the gas cylander to exactly 11.9ftlbs . the quality of enginearing on his gun is very impresive for the cost. roblade
i may be a little wrong on this but i think that over filling the gas strut will burn out the synthetic piston head and thus causing a huge problem for the owner of the rifle. Have heard that ben taylor sees a lot of these problems. not only that but in my opinion the barrel is a little on the short side to enable any decent power up grade even if it is fitted with all the proper parts if you want a nice decent gas gun go for the eliminator or if you can get hold of one the duel magnum (you know it makes sence) and as far as im aware the pump thing you would need is only issued to registered fire arms dealers (though i could be wrong here) i think you might fiund it cheaper to sell the current rifle and replace it with FAC powered rifle as the costs involved can be a little on the high side to get a rifle upgraded (is it called proofed?) ady
if it is .22 then simply fit a .177 gas ram this will take you to about 18ftlbs and still be very accurate
Devilishdave
Could be wrong m8 but I dont think it works like that with the theoben guns although I know what you mean with the spring replacement gas struts for non theoben guns. Dan have you got any further forward with it yet? Dave
jackg
Don't do it. Buy an Eliminator or a Crusader. You will burn out the piston crown and will not be able to cock it and probably not be able to group due to harsh recoil
kdubya
Q. Can I have my Fenman or Sirocco 2000 uprated to FAC? A. No. These rifles are manufactured as 12 ft/lbs rifles. They would need a whole new action to make them FAC Q. Can I buy an FAC rated Fenman or Sirocco 2000? A. No. They were available up until Summer 2001 but are now discontinued. They were known as the Theoben 'Mid-Power' rifles.and were capable of making up to 22ft/lbs in .22 calibre, 18ft/lbs in .20 calibre or 15ft/lbs in .177 calibre. But were only available as special order. this is an extract from the theoben F,A,Q board sell it and get a rapid cheers KW
1 of 5
Even if you could take a Fenman higher the short barrel gives naff all leverage to cock any big power outputs.
Darmah Dan
hmmm, all food for thought, sounds as though it'll be best to leave as is. Many thanks for all your input. ATB Dan
