GatGun
How many of you are still feretting ?. Im having difficulty in getting rid of some rabbits by shooting ( due to where the land is situated ) and im getting a lot in snares but cannot get down often enough to make it productive enough to have the impact imlooking for. Just wandering if most of you have packed up for the time being Edited May 7, 2009 by GatGun
Bleeh
No one really ferrets this time of year because there's a pretty big chance they'll stumble across a nest of wee little babby rabbits and have some dinner followed by a long snooze. Because I'm still on my high horse from a previous post - why don't you consider something like drop traps, or long netting?
badshot
Still going but not really productive, more for keeping the ferrets occupied and fit for the coming autumn than anything. Done three buries on Saturday and got two from each, these were busy looking warrens but no-one was home really. Oh and getting the kids away from the telly/DS etc. If you have a finder do it as you will at least be able to find where to dig if they lay up. I find that normally the ferrets will evacuate when you get making a good bit of noise above them.
GatGun
Drop traps wouldnt be succesfull as the fenceline is just standard wire not the rabbit proof type and theres too many runs and gaps to make it productive enough to do. and ive never longnetted myself so my two options are snaring or ferreting. The snares are very succesfull but im having difficulty getting down during week so its weekend only reaaly. The land isnt suitable for rimfires or shotguns and air rifles havent got the distance needed as its so open. Cheers for the replys.. I may have to try the ferts as a last resort..
