gixer1
Sean, Remove the knurled cap holding the barrel and remove the barrel and fore end,O-ring and spring, lay all the bits out in order if you need to, apply slight pressure to the face that the firing pin comes out of and pull gently (outwards away from the gun!) on the cocking handle (and wiggling it too!) this should come out and allow the action to slide out forwards, the action also comes into a few parts and basically clean all the parts with a solvent gun cleaner, give the stock and forend a wipe with a silicone based fluid just to clean it up a bit, also pay particular attention to the port in the barrel (you will see this if you remove the barrel and look at the round part that is below the barrel (looking from the chamber end) there is a small hole, soak this in cleaner and make sure it is clear (this is the gas port that powers the reloading of the gun) Also you may want to remove the choke and give the inner threads and face a good clean and the OD of the choke too. Once all the parts are clean give them a coat of dry film lube (you can buy this at most gun shops or DIY stores) Hope this helps, Gixer. Bombadil
It's not working for me at the moment, it may work for you, but if it doesn't just try again later - the video hasn't been removed, youtube is just having a few issues. evilstoat
The bolt handle is a pain to get out if it's either a new gun or has had minimal use, it took me a while to get the handle out, but keep at it...the sprung ball bearing that keeps it in needs to loosen up a bit. It's difficult to line the cut outs up to start, but after you've done it once or twice it gets easier very easy gun to work on, even taking the trigger block out to clean propellent out of it, i only do that every 5 outings or so though. best of luck, great guns
Imperfection
I prefer to use a spray gun cleaner like 'Napier' when doing my Escort cos it blasts the muck out. After disassembling,i pay particular attention to the firing block and spray plenty of cleaner into it. After giving the barrel a clean-remember to poke a piece of wire through the gas ports and give it a wiggle (i use a piece of stainless steel wire).I find that the gun cleaner was making the burnt powder clot together in the gas ports when swabbing and poking a piece of wire through them afterwards ensures they're clean and clear. Good advice from imperfection keeps those gas ports clear of any obstruction, and after using the wool buff from a cleaning kit clean them, as these tend to catch the ports and put fluff in them Edited May 29, 2009 by evilstoat
